Spore-Tideweed

This Tideweed has evolved to release buoyant, spore-like structures that drift on the currents, seeking new patches of mudflat to colonize. Its mat-forming tendency is reduced, prioritizing dispersal over dense anchoring.

Why it evolved
Intensified competition for space, driven by population booms, favors individuals that can escape localized saturation. The release of buoyant spores, aided by the warm, shallow waters of Tethys Shallows which allow for passive drifting, allows the Tideweed to colonize new areas before competitors arrive. This adaptation comes at the cost of reduced anchoring ability, making it more vulnerable to physical disturbances like strong tides if its spores fail to establish.
