Why it evolved
Confined to an isolated habitat, the Echo Prowler's population size is limited by the scarcity of prey. To better locate the dwindling food sources, its resonance organ has evolved towards a more active echolocation function, similar to bats, allowing it to detect prey even in low visibility. This specialization comes at the cost of reduced passive sensory input, making it more vulnerable to larger, unseen threats or environmental shifts it cannot "hear" in advance, a significant trade-off in its constrained world.
