Why it evolved

The unusual plentifulness of resources, specifically the abundant silicate-rich mineral veins common in the Obsidian Sea's fractured crust, has driven the Obsidian Behemoth to grow to immense proportions. Selection has favored individuals that can process these minerals more efficiently, leading to specialized internal organs. This specialization allows it to exploit the surplus, but it results in a near-complete dependence on these mineral deposits and a significantly slower metabolism, making it vulnerable should these veins become depleted, a risk amplified by the planet's high gravity which makes rapid movement to find new sources energy-prohibitive.
