Why it evolved
The opening of an ecological niche and the presence of larger predators like the Titan Tempest Stalker and Titan Breaker has driven selection for a larger, more powerful Ash Strider. Increased size, enhanced jaw musculature, and a more potent resonance organ allow it to compete for and hunt larger ash-tolerant prey, potentially even scavenging from the kills of smaller predators like the Breaker Fang. This specialization comes at the cost of agility, making it less efficient against faster threats and more vulnerable to overwhelming force if its resonance fails, a trade-off exacerbated by the constant volcanic ash reducing visibility and potentially interfering with resonance accuracy.
