Why it evolved
The perpetual darkness of the subterranean abyss makes visual hunting impossible, driving the evolution of enhanced non-visual senses. The Abyssal Siren has developed highly developed electroreception and enlarged olfactory organs to detect the faint electrical fields and chemical trails of prey, supplementing its existing heat-sensing pits. Its eyes have atrophied entirely, a trade-off for energy and sensory focus. This adaptation is facilitated by the world's stable, deep-water habitat, which reduces the need for rapid visual scanning and allows for the development of specialized sensory organs.
